BROOKLYN BOTANICAL GARDENS
Visit the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for a 90-minute seasonal highlight tour.  The 52-acre garden includes a number of specialty gardens, plant collections and the Steinhardt Conservatory which houses the C.V. Starr Bonsai Museum, three climate-themed plant pavilions, a white cast-iron and glass aquatic plant house and an art gallery.  Some of the specialty gardens and collections include Cherry Esplanade; the Japanese Hill and Pond Garden, a blend of the ancient hill and pond style with hills, a waterfall, a pond and an island; The Cranford Rose Garden, with over 5,000 bushes of over 1,400 kinds of roses including garden roses, hybrid tea roses, grandifloras, floribundas, climbers, ramblers and miniature roses; The Shakespeare Garden, an English cottage garden that exhibits more than 80 plants mentioned in William Shakespeare’s plays and poems; The Alice Recknagel Ireys Fragrance Garden, complete with Braille information signs for visitors with vision disabilities.  The four sections of this garden are each themed – plants to touch, plants with scented leaves, plants with fragrant flowers and kitchen herbs.  Other gardens include the Discovery Garden, the Herb Garden, the Lily Pool Terrace, the Osborne Garden, and the Rock Garden.  A celebrity Path includes famous Brooklynites such as Barbra Streisand, Woody Allen and Walt Whitman with a trail of engraved paving stones.  The Steinhardt Conservatory houses an extensive indoor plant collection in three climate-controlled pavilions for tropical, warm temperate and desert floras.  Also located here are: the C.V. USS INTREPID – FLEET WEEK

9/11 MEMORIAL
The 9/11 Memorial consists of two massive pools set within the original footprints of the Twin Towers with 30-foot waterfalls cascading down their sides.  The names of the 3,000 men, women and children who were killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks are inscribed in bronze panels surrounding the edges of the waterfalls.  This Memorial occupies 8 of the 16 acres that make up the World Trade Center site.  Witness the World Trade Center rebuilding taking place including the construction of One World Trade Center.  When you leave the Memorial, visit historic St. Paul’s Chapel, built in 1766.  The church, across the street from the World Trade Center, did not sustain any damage when the towers fell.  After the tour, you will have free time on your own for lunch and exploring.   Note:  All visitors will pass through magnetometers, hand-wanding or pat-down inspections and any bags are subject to security screening. Please limit the amount of items that you bring with you. No baggage larger than 8”x17”x19” will be permitted onto the Memorial. Bag storage is unavailable. HOWE CAVERNS

HISTORIC RHINEBECK / OLD RHINEBECK AERODROME

Visit two mansions in Newport, Rhode Island.  On arrival, tour The Breakers, a National Historic Landmark.  The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America.  Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877) established the family fortune in steamships and later in the New York Central Railroad, which was a pivotal development in the industrial growth of the nation during the late 19th century.   We depart The Breakers and travel to downtown Newport where you will have time for lunch on your own.  After lunch, we visit the Marble House, another National Historic Landmark.  Marble House was the summer estate of William K.
